One of the most frightening and traumatizing situations you could ever go through is having your home broken in to. Luckily, home security technology has never been better, and it is becoming even more advanced by the day! However, this does not mean that you can neglect your current system, or live your life absolutely carefree.
There will always be someone looking to steal your items or vandalize your property for their own reasons and benefit.
But have you ever actually wondered what some of the most commonly stolen items are? Well, the list should not be too surprising, especially if you have ever seen any television shows or movies that have to do with crime…

So, what are some of the ways that you can protect your items? First off, always be sure to put the items you use away after you have finished using them. While leaving them around the house or the yard might be a habit, you are putting your items at risk. In fact, if you keep these items in places that a robber can see them, such as through a window or screen door, you are more likely to find that they will be gone once you come back to them.
Likewise, always, always lock your doors. This also applies to closing things such as the garage door, locking the back door, as well as locking all of your windows at night while you are sleeping, and throughout the day if you are away for long periods of time.
If you have smart locks or other technologies, make sure that you change your settings to notify you immediately if there is any suspicious activity happening while you are asleep or away!
